It's this little beauty that has inspired me to start a new blog reviewing all of the things I love best... and hate most!
When I'd had quite a long period of feeling blue and being a little bit nuts, I wasn't sure that there was much out there in the world that could lift my spirits. But then a cute little package arrived at my door.
A Little Pot of Happiness from The Little Cakepot Co. I was excited to open it. I knew exactly what was inside!
You see, this lovely friend of mine (who is very good at cake) decided to start a business sending cake by post. The best way to do that? In a jar! And so... The Little Cakepot Company was born. Scrummy cakes baked in jars, iced, personalised and posted. Genius, huh?
Now, although this cake was set to me by the baker herself, and although I consider her a friend, you have to believe me when I say that I type very word of this without bias. Heck I could just not bother typing a damn word at all otherwise, but I genuinely, sincerely, honestly think that these Cakepots are worthy of a shout out. Enough so that I've gone to the trouble of starting a new blog.
Right from the moment the cake arrived, I knew it was bound to be amazing. Like, truly amazing. The attention to detail just in the packaging alone said it all. In a jar with my name on it (literally), with a tiny wooden spoon tied to it, was the most delightful looking lemon meringue cake treat I've ever feasted my eyes upon.
Now, I'm a big fan of the look of cake, the idea of cake, the smell of cake... but I don't often admire the flavour or texture. In fact, I might even go as far as to say that I often find cake a bit of a let down. It always looks so enticing and smells so inviting, but rarely am I impressed by it at all. It's usually too dry or too tasteless. But I'll tell you this now... This cakepot was so perfectly moist and full of mindblowing flavour. This was undoubtedly the most delicious cake to have ever passed my lips, graced my taste buds and been licked off my teeth. What a way to wash away the blues!
These cakepots really are the best thing since sliced cake. What a wonderful alternative to mail order flowers! I'd like to wish my cakey friend all the best with her new business venture and thank her so very much for making my day with cake.
